First Weekend in March Sees Record Warmth

New York City’s abnormally warm winter was followed by record warmth during the first weekend of March. At New York City, the mercury topped out at 68° on Sunday. The old record of 65° was set in 1991. In the North Central United States, where numerous cities smashed their record for warmest winter, Minneapolis registered its earliest 70° or above temperature on record on Sunday.

In response to the continuing warmth, the New York Botanical Garden continued to burst into bloom. Some photos from Sunday:
