Puerto Rico’s educational institutions are accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, as is my institution. I’ve met representatives from various schools there at conferences and am concerned about the challenges facing the Commonwealth and their schools.
The best source of information is probably Congressman Pedro Pierluisi (https://pierluisi.house.gov/media-center/press-releases) who represents Puerto Rico in the U.S. House of Representatives. I hope everything will be ok for your mother and her pension will not be impacted.
Very best wishes.
I read with great interest your posting on the vulnerability of the University of Puerto Rico retirement system given today’s financial crisis in PR. My mother is living off her UPR pension (she is retired faculty), so this is of interest to me. Can you suggest where I might get additional information on this issue? Just curious, what your connection/interest is in the topic.
Thanks in advance,
