Additional Disclosures Under the DOE’s Regulatory Changes

PRINT AS PDF

Previously, I wrote about the Department of Education’s proposed regulatory changes that could impact accreditors and accreditation requirements. The U.S. Department of Education proposes that institutions make some additional disclosures to current and prospective students. These disclosures include:

  • Whether a program meets licensure requirements in the state in which a student resides
  • Whether the institution has not determined whether the program meets licensure
    Requirements
  • Whether a program has ceased to meet licensure requirements

Disclosures about a program’s ceasing to meet state licensure requirements would need to be timely. Timely disclosures would be provided within 14 days of an institution’s making a determination that its program no longer meets state licensure requirements.
