OpenAI Releases Images 2.0

PRINT AS PDF

On Tuesday, April 21, Open AI released Images 2.0. Past blogs have shown some of the photo processing and images made possible using ChatGPT. Images 2.0 is a massive advance. Photo processing, development of posters, magazine layouts, and collages has now reached a professional level. OpenAI declared, “ChatGPT 2.0 is the next step: a state-of-the-art model that can take n complex visual tasks and produce precise, immediately usable visuals.”

Let’s take a quick look at what is now possible. The four images below offer a quick sketch of what Images 2.0 can do.

Generation of a poster from a prompt. The idea was to illustrate the human-AI partnership in assisting a French exchange student with her learning to illustrate the global nature of the human-AI partnership.

Generation of a composite photo transformed into a poster from five photos I took last summer in New Hampshire.

Generation of a magazine cover. A photo of a tulip I took at the Cloisters was adapted into a forest of tulips. The remainder of the image was based on the prompt.

A layout of three generated compositions that were based on photos I took at the Cloisters and the New York Botanical Garden.
