New York City’s abnormally warm winter was followed by record warmth during the first weekend of March. At New York City, the mercury topped out at 68° on Sunday. The old record of 65° was set in 1991. In the North Central United States, where numerous cities smashed their record for warmest winter, Minneapolis registered its earliest 70° or above temperature on record on Sunday.
