Friday, October 8 dawned with patches of thick fog. The temperature dipped just close enough to the dewpoint for the fog to cloak the coastline and shroud valleys. By late morning, the last remnants of the fog partially shrouded the iconic Fire Island Lighthouse, Long Island’s tallest lighthouse. Afterward, partly sunny skies created opportunities for memorable photos of the Lighthouse, all the while the beach was largely deserted by the past summer’s crowds.
