Historic Day for Flight

On Monday, April 19, Ingenuity made its first flight on Mars. The tiny rotorcraft rose 10 feet into the sky, hovered, made a slight turn, and then landed. Yet, its brief flight was a momentous occasion in the history of flight, as it marked the first-ever flight on another planet. The tiny craft overcame technical challenges related to distance and Mars’ think atmosphere to succeed. Since then, it has made two additional flights. As a result, this technology demonstration project has given scientists a new tool for exploring other planets and moons.
