A Moment of Joy and Hope

November 7 provided a moment of joy and hope for the nation, as the Biden-Harris team proved victorious in the 2020 Presidential election. The Nation’s longest, darkest, and harshest nightmare since the American Civil War is now coming to an end. The American people have swept aside a nativist and increasingly autocratic Administration. There is renewed opportunity to return to rule of law, constitutionalism, and e pluribus unum. Competence will be restored to the White House. Science, facts, and truth will again matter. The nation will return to the quest of a “more perfect Union” in which every person truly matters that had been disrupted by the outgoing Administration.

To be sure, there will be bitter sniping and a blizzard of conspiracy theories from the retreating revanchist elements and those who increasingly embraced authoritarian designs—with some even calling on state legislatures to overthrow the will of the people. They are yesterday. They are the past. They don’t matter anymore.

Those who made this moment possible are the new present. They are also the future. They have chosen the republican framework established more than two centuries ago and preserved through enormous sacrifice. Today and tomorrow matter. There is again hope in the air for a better and brighter future
