Extreme Rainfall Drenches New York City

During the evening of July 14, 2025, intense slow-moving thunderstorms moved across the New York City area. Parts of New York City’s subway system were flooded as 2.07” of rain fell during a one-hour period en route to a daily record 2.64” of rain. Outside the City, parkways were flooded.

The 2.07” rainfall was the sixth highest hourly figure on record. July is the month with the most 1.00” or above hourly rainfalls.
