Phoenix Experiences Severe Early-Season Heat

While Russia’s unprovoked war against Ukraine and its people moves into its 110th day and the COVID-19 pandemic ebbs and flows with the emergence of each new variant of the coronavirus, anthropogenic warming remains locked in. The result is warming global temperatures, periodic extreme precipitation events, and increasingly frequent severe heatwaves.

During June 8-12, Phoenix experienced an early-season severe heatwave. The temperature soared as high as 114°. The City recorded its earliest 100° daily average temperature and 90° minimum temperature.
