On August 7, OpenAI began rolling out GPT-5. Its announcement declared:

GPT 5 is a significant leap in intelligence over all our previous models, featuring state-of-the-art performance across coding, math, writing, health, visual perception, and more.

I have run some initial comparisons with GPT-4. It does better in processing photos, but it is not yet a true photo processor. It is more accurate in analyzing large datasets. It still has difficulty when being asked to repeat text or generate text (typos, etc.). However, this is very early testing and overall, it appears to be an advance over GPT-4.
